The Mayavis in NGO's

one day Hobbes asked Calvy about the difference between the people who worked in corporates and those who worked in NGOs.

Calvy: Hmm not much except that those in NGOs are financially beggars but socially revered for the sacrifice they make in terms of their time & energy- god gifted of course! Another being that they can get away with leading spilt lives in their work place and at home- mandatory for survival of the enlightened Mayavi! even though they crib about these things to their respective families.

Hobbes: so corporates are one faced, we know they are money minded, selfish and worldly, far worse off than you guys?
Calvy: not so but at least they admit being above all- Acceptance of truth is the main characteristic of the gr8 Mayavi Indians.

Cursing my luck for not getting any other seat, i decided to try sleeping to wake up fresh. The boy falls asleep, peacefully, snoring away to glory! Some very audible talking by Aunty in Telugu, or some south Indian language continues with Uncle. Seems to be they are in a happy mood, cross ...

The fine line between hypocrisy and advocacy.

The experienced hot shot : climate change is essential! Its going to ruin the entire future! (AND MY STOCK EXCHANGE MONEY) The lowly subordinate : yeah sure sir you bet we agree on that-climate change is going to have a diverse impact on livelihoods. The experienced hot shot : (irritated) ah well do whatever you were asked to do this morning and don’t forget to book my flight by business class and don’t forget to mention that airconditioned luxury car in our UNDP budget for climate change project. The lowly subordinate : Well if I may ask……why do ‘we’ want an AC car sir? The experienced hot shot : arrrrrrrrrrrrrrh growls, scowls and many ageing frowns later—have you ever understood the term; using for future investment {from a funder’s money}? Do you want to take that expense of the Mercedes C class from your salary? The lowly subordinate: ah well! (Gulp) now that you have made crystal clear I don’t think Sir there is anything left in the grey area but d...
